Charlie is a lifelong innovator who loves the challenge of engineering and design. One year after joining Steelcase product engineering, Charlie moved to begin a 24 year career in Research & Development. Focusing initially on Material and Process technology and later Electro Mechanical Solutions, Charlie created new intellectual property in various Seating, Furniture Systems, and Interface Platforms. In 2009, Charlie refocused his energy to lead a start-up activity in Procurement scouting Advanced Materials and Innovation for Steelcase brands & product categories. Charlie enjoys being part of both the discovery and implementation of new innovation. Charlie has a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from Western Michigan University, holds 25 utility patents and has led the implementation of collaborative work with leading institutions like IBM & MIT.
