BOMcheck is a centralized web database that helps suppliers keep track of and comply with substance regulations globally. Suppliers can manage their data in the secure database and can download declarations in industry standard IPC 1752A XML, PDF or Excel Formats. BOMcheck provides tools for suppliers to create standardized declarations in order to respond to the constantly changing and growing REACH Candidate List substances and be up-to-date with the most current RoHS and Conflict Material regulations.

Description

Regulatory Compliance Declaration (RCD) Tool
Includes regulatory guidance on restricted/declarable for hardware products in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Provides simple, detailed guidelines on where these substances can be found in materials or parts of hardware products and any exemptions that apply. Notifies suppliers of applicable new substance regulations.

Full Materials Declaration (FMD) Tool
Provides the weight percent of each individual material in the part and the weight percent of each substance that is deliberately added to each material. BOMcheck uses supplier’s FMDs to re-calculate a Regulatory Compliance Declaration (RCD) tool for parts when the list of regulated and declarable substances changes. Includes over 524,000 chemical names, synonyms, and trade names that suppliers can choose from.

Requirements

Suppliers are required to update each RCD every six months when more substances are added to the REACH Candidate List and other regulatory requirements. If a Full Materials Declaration (FMD) exists, suppliers do not need to update their declarations.

In order to join BOMcheck, suppliers must assign an authorized individual with authority to create substance declarations on the database. There is an online application form that can be found on their website and a signed copy must be sent to BOMcheck. A valid DUNS number is required to apply, which indicates legitimate, registered businesses. DUNS numbers can be looked up for your business or applied for by contacting Dun & Bradstreet at www.dnb.com. Larger suppliers can assign several Authorized Individuals to make declarations and must register using an authentic electronic signature and the same DUNS number when they create their account on BOMcheck.

Cost

Supplier Account: a 90 free day trial is given and then an annual subscription fee of 300 euros ($329.50 USD) per year is due for the Authorized Individual. The cost is free for companies with a total annual turnover of less than 3 million Euros (roughly $3.3 million USD)

Manufacturer Account: Free of charge if the company agrees to pilot BOMcheck with a limited number of suppliers. If pilot is successfully completed and the company is satisfied, it is required that the company requests their suppliers to join BOMcheck.

Super User Account: Companies will receive a free upgrade when both a Supplier Account and a Manufacturer Account exists on BOMcheck. The free upgrade would convert a Supplier Account into a Super User Account.
